The Hue Preservation Centre has asked the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to recognize the Hue royal festivals and dances as masterpieces of the intangible cultural heritage of humankind.
The information was announced by architect Phung Phu, Director of the Hue Preservation Centre.
He said the proposal was based on the successful research results of restoring the Nam Giao festival and Xa Tac ritual, as well as royal dances called “Luc cung hoa dang” (Six floral lamp worship offering) and “Lan mau xuat lan nhi” (a mother lion giving birth to a baby lion).
According to Mr Phu, the royal festivals and dances have received public acclaim over recent times.
